Tip: Caring for Alzheimer's Patients

Do you have a family member who has Alzheimer? Do not directly facing the patient’s frustration. Like you, Alzheimer’s sufferers need help. Here are some tips that’s worth a shot by families and patients who develop Alzheimer’s.

First, create a simple daily schedule, such schedule of eating, taking medicine, defecate, and other routines that simplify your routine monitoring of the patient. This schedule also allows the patient used to doing something simple that maintain their cognitive abilities.

Second, use simple words so that patients can better understand the messages you convey.

Third, take the patient talk about the past. This is to help stimulate memory. If necessary, use memory aids such as photos, video, or song that can make patients terstimulus remember the past.

Finally do not ignore feelings of patients. Notice the little things that people paid attention. Perhaps the small things that can make him terstimulus regain his memory.

Habits that can damage the brain

1. Don’t eat breakfast
Those who do not eat breakfast have a lower blood sugar levels, which consequently supply of nutrients to the brain becomes less.

2. Eat too much
Too much food, especially a high fat levels, can cause hardening of the brain blood vessels due to accumulation of fat in the blood vessel wall. Consequently the ability of the brain would decrease.

3.  Smoke
Substances in cigarettes which inhaled will cause rapid shrinkage of the brain, and can lead to Alzheimer’s disease.

4. Consuming too much sugar
Consumption of too much sugar will cause a disturbance in the absorption of proteins and nutrients, causing nutritional imbalances that would interfere with brain development

5. Air Pollution
The brain is the largest oxygen consumer in our body. Inhaling polluted air that reduce oxygen supply to the brain can reduce the efficiency of the brain.

6. Lack of Sleep
The brain needs sleep as a time to rest and recover its abilities. Lack of sleep in the long term will accelerate the damage to brain cells.

7. Closed head while sleeping
Habit of sleeping with closed head increase the concentration of carbon dioxide and lower oxygen concentrations can cause effects on the brain damage.

8. Using mind when ill
Working too hard or force to use our minds while we’re sick can cause decreased effectiveness of the brain and can damage the brain.

9. Less stimulating
Thinking is the best way to train our brain. Lack of stimulation of the brain can cause our brain contracted.

10. Rarely communicates
Communication is needed as one means to trigger the work ability of the brain. Communicate intellectually can trigger brain efficiency. Lack of communication will cause the brain intellectual ability be poorly trained.
