Obesity Epidemic – An Accurate Description Of Worldwide Over Weight Problems

Obesity epidemic may sound like a funny word, but that is what’s used to call the condition in the United States right now. It is indeed a shocking fact that obesity epidemic as the name suggests has become an epidemic in literal sense. The obesity epidemic condition in America outweighs the gravity of the problem in every country in the world bringing forth health hazards which proclaim National emergency in the frontline.
While obesity epidemic is common to both children and adults, the downside of the condition is obese children who turn adults gaining heart diseases, diabetes, arthritis and even cancer, at an earlier age than earlier generations.
Studies show that in America, the sole cause behind obesity epidemic is bad eating habits. Fast foods, tinned, canned and packeted food items are nothing but culprits in this case. Bad eating habits, excessive time spent watching television and lack of physical exercise all contribute to get obesity epidemic spread steadily across generations.
Some obese people claim that obesity epidemic is a genetic condition. While genetics can play a role in weight gaining process, the question mark lies in how a whole nation could become victim to an obesity epidemic which does not transmit through any means but only comes in to play through excessive eating and little physical exertion. However, it cannot be denied that environment plays a part in obesity which may make children of one generation heavier than the previous. Our environment also has to do with the kind of lifestyle we lead and what we involve in on a daily basis. These habits too can quite naturally be passed down to generations without our conscious notice or effort.
According to statistics, we see no progress in to curing this so called obesity epidemic. The numbers have not decreased over the years and the number of illnesses due to obesity epidemic is on the rise, each passing day.
Isn t it ironic and absurbed that a part of human population suffers from obesity epidemic when nearly half of the population on earth is dying out of hunger and poverty? So where should we draw the line between food and well being? And how often should we giving to temptations? Whatever said and done, at the end of the day, they are all individual choices!
