The Epidemic Of Obesity
You need only be out in a public place with many people and it will not take you long to realize just how many people in this country are actually overweight. And some areas are particularly hard hit when it comes to this problem. Insurance companies are beginning to address it as well and many employers. This condition will be the root cause of premature death in many individuals for years to come.
The good news is the condition is reversible, but it takes work and change. There is no quick fix. In order to lose weight, you are going to have to change the way you are living. And if you think you can have weight loss surgery and it will take care of all your problems, you are likely going to be in for a rude awakening. Yes, the weight will come off quickly at first, but eventually it will be up to you to make sensible choices to maintain your weight loss.
If you do not know how to get started the best way is with small changes. If you are ready to jump in, there is no shortage of structured exercise and healthy eating plans that a person can follow. They are available on the web, in books and in fitness centers. If you feel you do not have time to research and follow anything detailed, making small changes will go along ways towards regaining your health.
Try to make changes that are not extreme. Add one or two servings of vegetables to your diet each day and eliminate a serving or 2 of unhealthy carbohydrates. Drink more water. It is not only good for you, but it will also help you to eat less each day. Take a 20 minute walk 3 times each week. These simple concepts are a good starting point for a person that needs to make easy changes to begin the journey towards being healthy.
