Ghz Releases New Album, Morbid Curiosity

The first studio effort from GHz in February 2009 was “There’s Trouble Coming” and featured eight contemporary interpretations of hits and B-sides by Cream, Hendrix, and the Doors along with five originals in a similar vein. The band’s new 2010 release is “Morbid Curiosity,” and continues where the first album left off with ten original tunes that combine the psychedelic adventure, sonic exploration and explosive playing that has become part of the GHz signature. The new cuts are sometimes rocking, sometimes spacious; full of odd meters, combustive improvisation, and cool melodies you can never get out of your head. The quirky but thought provoking lyrics rattle the cages of the beasts of modern society, and dissect the human condition, fantasy love, and deep madness.

Scott Giambusso’s bass lines drive relentlessly and are flawlessly musical. Dan Hovey on guitar presents an all-you-can-hear buffet of fuzz, wah-wah, phaser and echo, played with the passion of Clapton or Hendrix in their prime. Drummer John Zidar, an octopus who permits no shade in his garden, rockets
each groove beyond Jupiter and sends DJs with drum machines crying home to Mama.

The UK’s magazine “Classical Rock Society” called the first album, “an absolute delight to fans of late 1960′s rock…you’re in for a treat and they do not disappoint!” Their latest take on “Morbid Curiosity” called the album “an enjoyable listen for those with blues in their bones…a crisp and cleanly produced slice of wholesome homespun rock…[with] strong songwriting and crowned by an experienced band’s musical ability.”

Strutter Magazine in the Netherlands says, “Without a doubt, the 10 included tracks are indeed food for the fans of HENDRIX/CREAM and I must admit that GHz is doing it very well actually, reaching dangerously close the classic rock sound of the late 1960′s heavy power/blues rock era.”

Power Play Magazine (UK) says, “GHz’s Morbid Curiosity clearly takes a page or two out of the book of 60′s classic rock, mixing elements of The Doors styled contemplative melancholy with the blues-rock sound of bands like Cream, thus creating something all around groovy.”

You can find both of the GHz CD’s; There’s Trouble Coming and Morbid Curiosity for digital or physical purchase from New Door Productions on iTunes, Amazon, or CDBaby.

Find more information, photos, and music from GHz at their official site. Ten different songs are also available to stream from their MySpace page, along with further details and other related media.

Why Certain Foods Are Not The Blame For Our Obesity Epidemic

Article by Luke Johnstone

It seem like everyone nowadays is trying to pinpoint the obesity epidemic on a certain food. Some people think its because we eat too much protein, others think its too many carbohydrates and sugars, many blame it on saturated fats, and now the new bad thing going around is trans fats.

I would like to add my 2 cents to this whole problem and excuse me if it sounds blatantly obvious.

We are overweight because we eat too much!

It is that simple. It doesn’t matter what food it is, we are eating way more food than our body needs therefore we are putting on weight.

We didn’t always have this obesity problem, so what did we do differently before?

From human existence all the way up to the world wars, there was a constant struggle for food. In fact you were considered rich and successful in some cultures if you were overweight. Actually, around the turn of the century a doctor was lucky to see a handful of heart disease patients in his lifetime. Now it is one of America’s biggest killers and is directly related to obesity. So what dramatic changes happened since the world wars that have brought on this current obesity epidemic?

First and foremost, technology has exploded. Can you imagine how much harder it would have been to get around without cars, having to walk everywhere instead. What about everyday chores like washing clothes or turning on the heater. Back then, they had to wash clothes manually and go out and chop firewood.

Don’t you think this extra activity made a difference? You bet it did. Nowadays we are spoilt with technology and exert ourselves a lot less than we did 50 years ago.

Another rapid increase in the past 60 years is the availability of food. Not only that, but calorie loaded, nutrient lacking food. Soft Drinks, lollies, packaged snack foods, chocolates, pastries and so on are everywhere and are easier to access now when you are out and about then a piece of fruit!

The biggest contributor has probably been the explosion of the fast food industry. The food is so yummy and so convenient that it is the mainstay for many people in the Western World. Problem is, a simple value meal from any of these outlets can be close to or even surpass someone’s daily calorie requirements.

Compare this to the countries that don’t have an obesity problem. You’ll find that these countries don’t rely on technology as much in their day to day life and calorie dense food isn’t as readily available.

In conclusion, I know it sounds too obvious but in my opinion the obesity epidemic comes down to one main factor. We are eating way more than our bodies need a day. This is made easy to do by our lack of activity through technological advancements, and the ease at which we can access calorie dense food, making it all too easy for us to eat too much.

The Worst That Can Happen Due to Morbid Obesity is Going in For Reduced Life Expectancy

Obesity is defined as a medical condition where the body builds up excess body fat to the extent at which causes severe health risks and possibly leading to reduced life expectancy as well. So what is morbid obesity? It is having a body weight more than 50-100% than required or 100 pounds above the ideal body weight. The easiest way to diagnose is to use a BMI value in proportion to your height.

Metabolic and eating disorders, calorie intake, environmental, genetic and hereditary are predicted to be the most probably culprits of morbid obesity although no one has ever determined a proper reason thus far. Hereditary factors do indeed play a essential role in the trend to be morbidly obese in that obesity is often viewed to run in families however, a family may share a similar modus vivendi and diet which can sum to the reason of morbid obesity.

Illnesses such as Cushing’s syndrome, hypothyroidism, depression and other neurological problems can also lead to morbid obesity as well as the use of certain antidepressants and steroids.

Obesity can cause problems in anyone whether it is men, women, teenagers or children. It makes physical activity more difficult and increases the risk of developing severe health risks or worsening the health conditions. It can affect anyone from any age group making it difficult for the person to involve in physical activity which eventually becomes a health hazard. To name a few health conditions that can be affected by morbid obesity are coronary heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, osteoarthritis, gout, diabetes, gallbladder disease, respiratory problems, cancer, and reproductive and fertility problems.

There is gender and age related differences in the various health problems that one might suffer from however the basic problem all morbid obese people suffer from is the means to safely control their ideal body weight.

Did you know that morbid obesity in the US is the second largest cause of death affecting over 9 million adults? Well the figures can be understood because not only does it  brings forth physical challenges, it brings about psychological and emotional pain as well.

While healthy diet and regular exercise are the most common types of remedies available for obesity, if you feel that things are getting out of hand, it is best to consult a physician to determine if you are marching towards a morbid obese episode.

Adults Obesity Epidemic-Who Is To Blame?

Article by Ivy Barley

The obesity epidemic has become a very serious global problem that needs to be resolved as soon as possible. The question now is,”who is to blame?”.Should we blame the fast food companies, technology, urbanization or ourselves for the sharp increase in the obesity epidemic?

You are responsible for your own life!

For example, have you considered eating an apple instead of your favorite hamburgers and pizza or maybe taking a lot of water instead of soda?Well of course,an apple or grapefruit might not taste as good as our favorite cheeseburger.

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy your favorite foods;just minimize your intake whilst including the healthy foods in your diet as well.

In this modern world, who would ever like to walk or take a stroll to work or school?Everyone is in a hurry and this makes us rely heavily on cars and other machines resulting in laziness.

Or should we blame the fast food companies which pack our food with plenty fat, sugar and salt? The truth is that even though their food is unhealthy, they never forced it into our mouths. It was our own decision to buy their foods.

What about their extremely enticing ads? After all, that beautiful lady on TV who keeps on smiling as she eats a hamburger is enough to lure us to think junk food is the best of all foods.

In my opinion, apart from some other causes of obesity that might not be our direct fault such as genetic factors or medications,we are all to blame for the spate of the obesity epidemic.

It is now time to make reformed decisions regarding our lifestyle such as reducing intake of refined foods and increasing intake of fruits and vegetables. We should exercise a lot as well.It is time to say no to the obesity epidemic and improve our lifestyle

The ball is in your court!
